As you round the corner and catch the first glimpse of The Folly it takes your breath away with its expanse of mullioned windows and architectural doorways - this house was built for impact.
Much of The Folly's history is shrouded in uncertainty and the house has evolved over time, between the late 17th and early 18th centuries, increasing in its grandeur.
How did Richard Preston raise the money to build such an impressive, statement house in the 17th century? He was one of the leading lawyers of his time but the house and rooms for his practice would have cost him a fortune.
